Project: “Supporting Underrepresented Nurses for Successful Board Service” to increase health equity across America through the increased number of minority and underrepresented nurses on boards, commissions, and appointments. This project seeks to identify and address gaps and barriers preventing underrepresented nurses from pursuing, joining, serving, and/or having positive experiences on boards.
The Campaign is an initiative of AARP Foundation, AARP, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

NOBC was one of 16 organizations to receive a 2022 Health Equity Innovation Fund award from the AARP Center for Health Equity through NursingSM, and the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, an initiative of AARP Foundation, AARP, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Project: “Strengthening Nurses’ Voices to Improve Health Equity: A Community-based Approach” will develop and test the first comprehensive tool to measure the value of nurses on boards, commissions, and appointments. The data collected will examine the impact of nurse trustees on addressing the social determinants of health and leading change on issues of structural racism.
Project Lead Partner: Mississippi Action Coalition in collaboration with participating Campaign for Action state Action Coalitions.
Collaborators: AMN Healthcare and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL).

Project: Provide administrative staff support with the knowledge, experience, and expertise to create surveys and conduct statistical analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data while meeting IRB security requirements.
