I view board membership as my way of serving my community and profession.

Continuous learning, coaching and mentoring, and networking.
What impact have you had serving on a board? Example?
My participation provides a clinical and health provider perspective for non-clinical board members.
What advice would you give someone going into a board leadership position for the first time?
Be persistent and have patience. Board selection is a slow process.
What are a few resources you would recommend to someone looking to gain insight into becoming a better leader and eventually obtaining a board position?
Seek out professional organizations that focus on board membership and get a leadership coach or mentor.
Why do you feel it is important for nurses to serve on boards?
We have the opportunity to influence and facilitate change.
What do you think is the most significant barrier to nurses serving on boards?
The excuse of being too busy.
